Reading the Bible Together
We believe God speaks through his Word. So each week, every time we meet, whether in a large group, small group or one-to-one, we open the Bible together to see who Jesus is and why he matters.
We run regular events on campus every week – this page is the place to keep up to date with what’s going on.
We’re Ballarat Christians at Uni (or just CU for short) at Federation University. We’re a community of students committed to sharing life and sharing Christ. Uni can be exciting but also overwhelming, and we believe Jesus brings clarity, hope, and purpose to it all. That’s why we meet together – to read the Bible, encourage one another, and share the good news of Jesus with our campus.
We believe God speaks through his Word. So each week, every time we meet, whether in a large group, small group or one-to-one, we open the Bible together to see who Jesus is and why he matters.
Uni is better when it’s shared. We connect over a free dinner every Tuesday night or over a coffee during the week as well as sharing everyday life — building friendships that encourage and support each other.
We truly believe the gospel is good news so we want it to be heard across our campus. Through events, conversations, and invitations, we invite Fed Uni to meet Jesus as we share the hope he offers to everyone.
Our group is shaped and led by students, which means uni life and student voices are at the heart of everything we do. At the same time, we’re supported by staff who guide us in reading the Bible, growing in faith, and sharing Jesus on campus. Together, we’re building a community of students leading our mission through partnership with long-term, campus-based AFES staff.
Meet our people
Ballarat Christians at Uni is dedicated to serving and loving Fed Uni in practical and unique ways. So we host events and activities for both students who identify as Christian, and those curious about faith. We think the best way to love our campus is to invite everyone to know Jesus, who brings freedom and meaning to our lives.
Our group at Fed Uni began with two ministry apprentices (one from RMIT Melbourne another from Deakin Geelong). They wanted to create the opportunity for Ballarat students to be blessed through a CU like they had been during their time at uni in their cities. Over time, we’ve grown into a community of friends, learners, and leaders — all seeking to make faith meaningful in uni life. There’s a rich history behind how we came to be, and we’d love for you to see it for yourself.
Our history
The Ballarat Christians at Uni (CU) is part of a larger organisation – Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). AFES then forms part of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). Together, we’re an international community of students discovering Jesus together. In Australia, all AFES groups stand on the same biblical foundations, seeking to proclaim Jesus faithfully on every campus. Being part of this wider community means we’re connected to other campus groups, supported by experienced staff, and able to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
